about us

The Wardian was founded by Kim Young-Joggerst, to create an inviting space where plant lovers and enthusiasts can discover, learn, and connect through the mutual love of plants.

Plants make people happy.  Cultivating joy and balance is behind everything we do, and we believe plants are a big part of that. Not just within the home, but all around us. The Wardian is a place that helps our customers bring the positive energy of green life into their personal spaces while also offering hand picked artisan gifts and goods for those special occasions.

While house plants are our passion another piece of our vision is to create a culture of inclusivity within our shop and our outdoor courtyard. Community is highly important to our idea of success.

Fun fact: The Wardian's name came from the term wardian case which was an early form of terrarium popular in the 19th century. They were critical to introducing new plant varieties, by protecting them during the long journey overseas.

"I hope what customers find in my shop brings them as much enjoyment as I get from curating the collection in the store."

- Kim Young-Joggerst, owner and plant-a-holic
